These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) apply to all BetCity products, services, promotions and betting activities. By creating an account, using our platform or placing a bet, you confirm that you have read, understood and agreed to these Terms, our Rules, Policies and all applicable South African laws.

BetCity is required to verify all Players in line with FICA and applicable legislation. KYC documents may be requested on your first withdrawal and once deposits reach R5,000 or more. Only personal accounts may be used.

By registering, you consent to BetCity processing and sharing your personal information where legally required, including identity verification and regulatory compliance under POPIA. If you opt into marketing, you may receive promotional communication from BetCity and can opt out at any time.

To use BetCity you must be 18 years or older, legally permitted to gamble, registered as a Player and compliant with these Terms. Business accounts, underage gambling and excluded persons are strictly prohibited. BetCity reserves the right to suspend or close accounts that fail to meet eligibility requirements.

To register and bet with BetCity, you must:

  • Be 18 years or older;
  • Be a natural person using your own personal bank account;
  • Successfully complete registration and KYC requirements;
  • Comply with these Terms;
  • Not be self-excluded or listed on the National Register of Excluded Persons.

BetCity reserves the right to cancel bets, suspend accounts and return deposits where underage gambling is suspected. Winnings will not be paid to underage Players.

BetCity may update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the platform means you accept the latest version.

3.1 Registration and Acceptance

To access BetCity services, Players must register a Player Account, provide the required information, confirm they are 18+, and accept these Terms.

3.2 One Account Rule

Players may only hold one Player Account linked to one personal bank account. Duplicate, shared or linked accounts may be suspended or permanently closed.

3.3 Account Security

Players are responsible for protecting their login details. All activity performed using valid credentials will be treated as authorised by the account holder.

3.4 Personal Use Only

BetCity services are strictly for personal, recreational use. Professional, commercial or syndicated betting activity is prohibited.

3.5 Accurate Information

Players must keep all account, banking and contact details accurate and updated.

3.6 Dormant Accounts

Accounts with no deposits or withdrawals for 12 consecutive months may be classified as dormant. Dormant accounts may be closed after 36 months.

3.7 Suspension & Closure

BetCity may suspend, restrict or close any account for:

  • Breach of these Terms;
  • Regulatory requirements;
  • Fraudulent or suspicious activity; or
  • Violations of South African law.

BetCity may withhold funds pending investigation and report relevant matters to authorities where required.

3.8 Platform Disclaimer

BetCity is not liable for losses caused by:

  • Service interruptions;
  • Technical failures;
  • Communication issues;
  • Data corruption; or
  • Platform misuse.

All bets are subject to acceptance by BetCity’s systems.

By placing a bet, Players confirm that:

  • They are legally permitted to place the bet;
  • They do not know the outcome of the event; and
  • They are not violating any sporting, contractual or regulatory rules.

BetCity reserves the right to:

  • Refuse or limit bets;
  • Void bets affected by technical errors;
  • Void bets linked to suspicious, manipulated or unethical activity; and
  • Cancel bets where required by law.

4.1 Related Bets

Related bets are not permitted. If accepted in error, stakes may be divided across selections at BetCity’s discretion.

4.2 Pre-Match & Live Betting

Pre-Match bets are placed before an event begins. Live Betting applies once an event is in progress.

BetCity may:

  • Suspend or reopen markets during events;
  • Amend incorrect odds;
  • Void bets where outcomes were reasonably known at the time of placement.

Once placed, bets cannot be changed or cancelled.

5.1 Bet Cancellation

Bets cannot be cancelled once accepted.

5.2 Errors & Liability

All services are provided “as is”. BetCity is not liable for banking failures, EFT delays, technical issues, interrupted access, incorrect third-party information, indirect damages or loss of winnings.

Maximum liability is limited to the original stake amount or available account balance, depending on the claim.

Force majeure events may delay or suspend BetCity obligations without liability.

BetCity may apply payout limits based on sport, market, product or risk exposure.

6.1 Daily Payout Limits

Limits apply as communicated on the platform and are subject to change.

6.2 Sports Betting Limits

Sport-specific maximum payouts are displayed at time of bet placement.

6.3 Maximum Payout Per Product

Product-level payout caps apply across all betting markets.

6.4 Virtual Sports Limits

Virtual sports are subject to separate payout limits as published on the platform.

Players may only use personal South African bank accounts registered in their own name.

The following are prohibited:

  • Business bank accounts;
  • Third-party payments;
  • Transfers between Player Accounts.

KYC verification is required:

  • On first withdrawal; and
  • Once cumulative deposits exceed R5,000.

BetCity may recover chargebacks or reversed payments directly from Players.

Applicable betting taxes may be deducted from winnings where required by law.

7.1 Bank Verification

Bank account names must match the registered BetCity account holder.

7.2 Foreign Exchange

All transactions are processed in South African Rand (ZAR). Winnings may only be paid into South African bank accounts registered to the Player.

BetCity may add, remove or amend deposit methods at any time.

8.1 Instant EFT (Ozow)

  • Instant deposits;
  • Minimum deposit: R50.

8.2 Card Payments (Peach Payments)

  • Visa and MasterCard debit/credit cards accepted;
  • 3D Secure protected;
  • Minimum deposit: R50.

8.3 Direct EFT

Available during payment system downtime.

  • Processing: 1–3 business days;
  • Use registered mobile number or username as reference;
  • Proof of payment may be requested.

8.4 Prepaid Vouchers

Voucher values available: R2, R5, R10, R20, R50, R100, R500, R1,000 and R5,000.

Voucher funds must be wagered before withdrawal.

Withdrawals are only paid to verified personal South African bank accounts belonging to the registered Player.

Minimum withdrawal: R50.

Processing time:

  • 24–48 business hours;
  • Monday–Friday, 09:00–16:30.

BetCity reserves the right to charge processing fees where deposited funds were not wagered.

Incorrectly credited funds remain recoverable by BetCity.

All promotions are subject to these Terms and any Promotional Terms & Conditions (“PTC”). Where conflicts exist, the PTC will apply. BetCity may modify or cancel promotions at any time.

10.1 Eligibility

Players must:

  • Be 18+;
  • Meet promotional requirements;
  • Not be employees, directors, agents or immediate family of BetCity or associated marketing partners.

10.2 Bonus Rules

Bonuses may include:

  • Minimum deposit requirements;
  • Wagering requirements; and
  • Promotional time limits.

Withdrawals before completion of wagering requirements may result in forfeiture of bonus funds and winnings.

10.3 Irregular Bonus Play

BetCity monitors for irregular or abusive bonus activity, including hedge betting, artificial wagering patterns and bonus exploitation. BetCity may withhold winnings, remove bonuses and restrict accounts where abuse is identified.

10.4 Prize Terms

Prizes:

  • Are non-transferable;
  • May not include cash alternatives;
  • May be substituted with prizes of equal value.

Winners remain responsible for applicable taxes and related costs.

10.5 Promotional Disputes

BetCity decisions on promotions are final, subject to referral to the Mpumalanga Economic Regulator (MER).

Bonuses are offered at BetCity’s discretion.

Once a Player uses a bonus, they are deemed to have accepted all associated wagering requirements and conditions.

Where fraudulent or abusive bonus activity is suspected, BetCity may:

  • Remove bonus funds and winnings;
  • Withhold balances exceeding original deposits; and
  • Pursue legal recovery where applicable.

BetCity promotes responsible gambling and encourages Players to bet for entertainment only.

Responsible gambling guidelines include gambling within your limits, avoiding chasing losses, using deposit controls, taking breaks and seeking support where needed.

13.1 Time-Out

Players may temporarily suspend access to their account using BetCity’s Time-Out tools.

13.2 Self-Exclusion

Self-excluded Players:

  • Cannot access their accounts;
  • Cannot register new accounts during the exclusion period;
  • Will not receive marketing communication.

Self-exclusion requests may also be submitted through authorised court orders.

Disputes must be submitted in writing to help@betcity.co.za together with:

  • Your Player Account details; and
  • A concise summary of the dispute.

BetCity will respond within 5 working days.

If unresolved, disputes may be escalated to the Mpumalanga Economic Regulator (MER).
